Safe Sanctuary Policies

Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church is committed to the safety and security of its most vulnerable participants. We have the following policies that will keep your child or youth safe.
  • Anyone who works with minors at this church must go through a thorough background check.
  • In addition, we have windows in the classrooms doors so that classes can be monitored without interruption.
  • Whenever possible, we operate with the policy of 2 adult leaders in a class.
  • In addition, we employ an Education Director, a Youth Director and a Nursery Director who act as roving supervisors and check in on classes regularly.
  • Volunteer teachers must be adult age and at least 10 years older than their oldest pupil and have participated in our church for at least 6 months.
  • If there are only a few children to one adult, we also require an open door in addition to having the supervisors.
  • All volunteers must attend an annual training event where they are updated on our policies, trained to work with children and youth and have their background checks renewed.
  • Registration forms on the children and youth keep all contact information and dietary and activity restrictions at the fingertips of the adults taking care of them in case of an emergency.
  • We also have fully stocked First Aid Kits and volunteers who are trained and certified in First Aid and Infant, Child and Adult CPR.
These policies include the Transportation Ministry volunteers. For more information, please contact Janet Boston, Education Director at or (850) 456-7463 X5.
